Before I share the Adiv ladoo recipe with you, let me orient you to what these are. Adiv Seeds , also called Garden Cress seeds in English belong to the list of forgotten food s of India. They look somewhat of the size of til, but are reddish in color. No they are not same as Flax seeds. Flax seeds are not just bigger than them in size, but also they are brownish in color. Adiv seeds for the longest time ever have been native to our post delivery tradition.
Recently these have gained popularity because of their promising results for hair growth, but their benefits are way beyond just this.
Health Benefits of Adiv Seeds:
- Help increase Milk Production in Lactating Mothers : Intake of aliv seeds causes a considerable increase in the LH, FSH, estrogen, progesterone, prolactin hormone levels of women. These seeds contain many alkaloids and flavonoids, some of which influence the secretion of hormones by endocrine glands. A high level of prolactin hormone in the lactating mother promotes milk secretion.
- Helps with unexplained Fertility Issues- Since Aliv seeds contain phytoestrogen which acts like estrogen hormone, it has the ability to regulate the menstrual cycle.
- High in Iron :Garden cress seed is the richest source of iron, providing 100mg of iron per 100g. Since it is vegetarian food, non-heme iron is present in it. Regular intake of a single Aliv laddu is effective to improve the hemoglobin level of women and thus prevents Anemia.
- Immunity Booster: Adiv seeds improve Hemoglobin Levels in the body, there by enhancing the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. When all body cells receive well oxygenated blood, they become stronger and display better immune response to infections.

Adiv Ladoo Recipe
Equipment
- Gas stove, Kadhai, Spatula, Mixing Pot, Measuring Cups
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Adiv Seeds
- 1.5 cup Grated Coconut
- 1/2-1 cup Coconut Water
- 1 Cup Jaggery
- 2 Tbspn Ghee
Instructions
- Soak Adiv seeds in just enough amount of Coconut Water and allow them to rest for 5-10mins for the seeds to absorb this coconut water
- Once the water disappears, add a little more water and allow the water to be soaked again after resting. Check and repeat the process till you see the adiv seeds are well soaked and soft.
- Now to this well soaked Adiv Seeds, add grated coconut and mix well. Keep Aside
- Warm a kadai, to that add gud and allow to melt. Keep stirring continuously to prevent it from getting burnt.
- Once the jaggery melts, add coconut a nd adiv mixture to this melted jaggery.
- Add ghee to this mixture and keep cooking till the whole mixture comes together. Once the liquid evaporates, turn the gas off and allow to cool
- Once the mixture becomes cool enough to handle, start making ladoos and store in an air tight box
- Eat as a mid meal and enjoy!
