Day 7 – Drink more water

Its been 4-5 days now that we have started to begin our day with water, right? Now is the time to go a step further.

Sip on water throughout the day. Many of my clients use a phone app to set reminders initially and soon it becomes a habit.

Consciously start your meals with water. Have a glass of water 10-15 mins before your main meals. This will help regulate food intake. It’s one of the easiest tip to ‘eat right’ and not overeat.

You could also track your intake by keeping a 1L bottle with you, as I do. I try and finish one bottle by lunch time and second by 5 pm. The rest that I drink in morning or before meals is always over and above these 2 L.

The color of your routine is an important marker of your water intake.

A good rule of thumb is to look at the color of your urine. You should be drinking enough water to turn your urine a light-colored yellow.

Dark-colored urine is a sign that because your water intake is less, thus your kidneys are retaining fluids to maintain your bodily functions. As a result, urine will seem highly concentrated and dark in color. You may also urinate less frequently and feel bloated for the same reason.

Frequency of urination can also be used to judge your water intake. A healthy person urinates on average about seven or eight times a day. If your urine is scant or if you haven’t urinated in several hours, that too is an indication that you’re not drinking enough.

Bear in mind that a Vitamin B supplement, will turn your urine a bright, almost fluorescent yellow. So, if you’re taking supplements containing B2, it may be more difficult to judge by the color of your urine.
